A single standard, held across a continent
We are not a booking site or an agency. We are a small team that keeps a private collection of residences, relationships and services, and answers for every part of a stay.
The Black Key Collection began with a frustration familiar to anyone who travels to Africa for work or for family: that arriving somewhere new should not mean choosing between an anonymous hotel and the uncertainty of a listing site.
We started in Kigali, a city we know intimately, with two residences and a promise — that every home in the collection would be one we would put our own family in, and that a single person would answer for the whole of a guest's stay. We have since added Dar es Salaam, and the model has not changed.
We are deliberately small. We do not aggregate, we curate. Every residence is visited and vetted. Every experience is one we have taken ourselves. The concierge is a team, not a call centre. And we are building for the long term — memberships, more cities, and eventually the leading luxury hospitality platform on the continent.

Homes, not room inventory
Twenty residences across Kigali and Dar es Salaam, from a one-bedroom loft in Nyamirambo to a five-suite house at the tip of the Masaki peninsula. Each is serviced, secure and held to one standard.
