The trip
Akagera is Rwanda's savannah park: plains, woodland, wetland and a dozen lakes, protected as a national park since 1934. Since 2010 it has been managed by the Akagera Management Company, a partnership between the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks. Lions returned to the park in 2015, eastern black rhinos in 2017 and 2019, and southern white rhinos in 2021 and 2025.
A day trip from Kigali means an early start and a late return, so the concierge plans it around you: a private driver from the villa, the park entry and the game drive arranged in advance, and a picnic or a packed breakfast if you want one. The details and the fee are confirmed before you confirm. Coming back to a private pool and a dinner at home is the point of staying in a villa rather than a lodge.
