The event

Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and 2 January are public holidays in Rwanda, and the end of the year is a time when families and diaspora visitors often come home to Kigali. Each villa is booked to one group at a time, so the whole house is yours for the holiday.

A villa makes the holiday simple: a tree in the living room, Christmas dinner cooked by a private chef, New Year's Eve on the terrace. Amahoro and Urugwiro sleep eight, Irebero seven and Ikaze four, and several villas can be booked together for a large family. Low-key celebrations are welcome, as long as the neighbourhood is not disturbed.

Good to know
